Mark Warren the winemaker behind Marq Wines, is an accomplished wine maker and has created an artistic range of wines, produced in small quantity at his boutique winery. Mark’s current major commercial role is producing the extensive Happs range as well as wines under contract for several other Margaret River wine brands. When all of this is added up, he is responsible for 60 to 70 individual wines each year, now including wines of his own under the Marq Wines label.
When Mark contacted RBD for the branding of his own winery, he had a very clear brief for his new venture. As Marq Wines features a range of contemporary and emerging wine varietals, Mark wanted a label with a contemporary approach to reflect that. Clear varnish and foil print embellishments were used to counter-point the minimalist approach to typography and colour. The Marq Wine label stands out with its understated elegance and reflects the new and exciting way Warren is directing and educating our palates.
“A quick look at the list of Vermentino, Fiano, Wild & Worked Sauvignon Blanc Semillon, Wild Ferment Chardonnay, Rose, Gamay, Tempranillo, Malbec, and Cut & Dry Shiraz (Amarone style) points to the underlying philosophy: an exploration of the potential of alternative varieties and unusual winemaking methods by someone with an undoubted technical understanding of the processes involved.” James Halliday (www.winecompanion.com.au)
Marq Wines Labels won the Print Industry Craftsmanship Awards and was Highly Commended at the last AGDA Awards in Melbourne.
